EXPERTS WANT STEEL AIR EMPIRE

RAID SHELTERS FOR ALL

THE three experts appointed by Sir John Anderson, Minister for Civi- linn Defence, to consider the problem of air-raid shelters recommended re- cently that:

Every home in a vulnerable urea should have a shelter;

Shelters should be distributed before an emergency;

They should be pinced near, to house, but not inside them; '

There should be immediate legislation to ensure that no, new residential building of whatever size or clans, is erected without a shelter:

People who provide should not be penalised creased taxes or rates.

BIG LAND DEAL IN S.-W. AFRICA

The Union Government has given practical proof of its faith in the future of South-West Afrian by out- bidding the German Government for a huge tract of farming country in the territory.

Messrs. Liebiga South Africa-- Ltd, who were established before the Great War as manufacturers of meat extract in South West Airlea, decided to dispose of their holdings, comprising about 1,000,000 acres.

The German Government tried to purchase the property for the settle ment of German farmers. Through the South West Land Settlement Co. the Releli provides German Immi- grants with farm and on easy terms.
