GERMAN TRADE IN SOUTH AFRICA

Cape Town, ·

A defence of 'Germany's rude in the South African wool market was made recently by Mr. J. F. von Kek- ker. Nationalist M.P. for Cradock, and president of the Cape Wool- growers Association.

He said that the payments agree- ment with Germany had not merely warded off the collapse of the South African wool market but had also saved the wool Industry from the very real inence of the synthetie #bre developed by the totalitarian countries.

"In the present dellente world clr- .cumstances of wool production," he told the Cape Times, "the recent Ill- advised and H-considered criticism of the German payments agreement hus come as a nasty jar.

"Such eritlelsm strikes not only at South Africa but at Australian and New Zealand wool producers."

the Before Germany came into South African wool market this sen son, he added, wool prices were practically at a ruinous level.
