MR. ARTHUR HENDERSON asked in the House of Commons to-day whether the Government was prepared to offer full rights of an asylum to all Spanish Republican leaders and followers unable to remain in Spain because of possible reprisals.
Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd, declared that the Government was always anxious to maintain the traditional policy of offering an asylum to foreigners who wished to take refuge for political, racial, or other reasons.
The number that could be admitted WAS necessarily limited, but arrangements could be made for the maintenance of a limited number of Spanish Republican lenders and followers, applications for admission would receive the Home Secretary's sympathetic consideration-Reuter.
