REPRESENTATIVES OF the Japanese and Hongkong Governments met in conference at the Colonial Secretary's office this afternoon.

The discussions have been opened on the subject of the amount of compensation to be paid by Japan for damage to persons and property sustained in British territory during the incident on the border on February 20.
