THE magistrate at Bow Street, Mr. Dummett, re- cently characterised as a tissue of lies the story previously told by a German of torture and persecution.

He had before him Siegfried Simon Gembicki (39), a German financial agent, of Forsel Court, Edgware Road, charged with Elizabeth Lensing (39), a German student, of the same address, with making a false state- ment to an aliens officer.
