Russian Punches Magistrate's Nose

A Dover magistrate. Mr. William 5. Lee, appeared at Canterbury Police Court recently with a swollen nose and told how he had been assaulted by Jacob Panitz, a 38- years-old Riesian hotel worker, of Dane-rond, Margate, at the Canter- bury Labour Exchange.

Mr. Lee, who is chairman of the East Kent Appeals Committee, sald that Panitz came before them and Thud his appeal dismissed, the effect being that he would have to po to n public assistance inalitution.

The man then lost his head and punched hing on the nose, breaking the skin and causing considerable swelling.

While he was being taken away he assaulted a constable.

Panitz said he acted on the spur of the moment.

He was sentenced to one month's hurd labour on each charge of assaulting Mr. Lee and the constable, und was recommended for de portation.
