NO DOUBT ABOUT ROSE ELECT'S SUPERIORITY

POSSESSES

BOTH

STAMINA, PACE: IMPRESSIVE RUN

GOVERNOR'S CUP IN TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME.

Well, after so many weeks of speculation, the question as to whother Rose Elect or Navylight is the botter pony has been decided at last. Judging i by yesterday's race in the Hongkong Derby, there can be no doubt whatever that Rose Elect is the superior animal, possessing both stamina and pace.

The question now aries Can Mr. Eu Tong-en's candidate beat Silky- light in the Champions to-morrow? If Rose Elect runs the way she did yesterday when she smashed Liberty Bay'a record for the mile and a halt, she has great chance of carrying off the Champions as well. And one must not overlook the fact that the was not extended yesterday, having to make the pace herself. It was fu deed a wonderful performance.

Some Interesting races are on to- day's card, including the Royal Navy Cup, Subscription Grifin Challenge Cup, Tyrn Stakes, Governor's Cup and the Rooty-Hi Derby.

In the Australian classic, Rivulet seems to have a great chance of win- ning as she has been showing very consistent form during the lust two days. In two starts she has been placed second and first, and seems to be the outstanding grifin of meeting.

A GOOD TUSSLE

this

The Hopeful Staltes should produce a good fight between Conquering Time and lyndford Bridge, both win- ners yesterday. By winning the rage in which she started yesterday, Hynd- ford Bridge proved that provided she does not start badly, she has plenty of running, and she should give Con- quering Time a good run'to-day.

Celtic Star's burst in the last 100 yards or so in the Exchange Plate to nose out Musketeer was a revelation to many people, and she is bound to have plenty of support in the Sub- Ecription Grimas' Challenge Cup. Musketeer may secure her revenge, but Marksman will probably occupy third place.

If Desert Chief starts in the Peking Plate, she ought to win hands down. King's Warden ran very well yester- day and got quile close to Desert Chief at the Onlsh, but a surprise does not seem to be likely,
