General Keyes Passes

LONDON, Feb. 27. BRIGADIER-GENERAL SIR; TERENCE HUMPHREY | KEYES, brother of the Admiral of the Fleet, Sir Roger Keyes, passed away to-day in London in his G1st year.--Reuter,

Sir Terence Keyes, R.CLE, CHI C.M.G, C., served with the Indian Aray, and had retired.

After being educated at Hallebury College, he went through the Royal Military College at Sandhurst, desd entered the army In 1897. He was promoted to Major in 1015, was teme purary Light-Colonel in 1970, app-) pointed

FAMINE DUTY

He saw service at Tran in 1897-90, when he was wanded, mentioned in despatcher, and received a medal with two clasps. He was on famine duty in the Central Provinces hi 1000, and three years later became vice-Consul at Seistan and Kain. He was Consulat Turbat-1-Haldark in 1906, served in Baluchistan two years and was political ngent at tujer, Behrein (Persian Gulf) in 1914.

He served in Mesopotamia in 1915, wis in charge of the Mekran Mission the following year, attached to the Russian army in Rumania in 1017. and fulfilled special duty In Russia' fron 1917 to 1918.

He was attached to the General Staff in south. Russia and the army of the Black Sen in 1919, and after=! wards he held several important] diplomatic positions, including that

of

Deputy High Commissioner, South Russia, British Envoy at the Court of Nepal, Resident at Gwalior, Agent to the Governor-General In the States} of West

India, and Resident at Hyderabad.

He leaves a widow, three sons, and two daughters.
