Refugees Flock To Hongkong

LARGE DETACH- MENT of Japanese marines landed this morning at Namtau, a large Chinese city in the Pearl River delta ten miles from Castle Peak.

The landing was carried out without opposition.

First reports were brought to Hongkong by Chinese refugees, three hundred of whom came across the frontier from Shum Chun and about a hundred across Deep Bay, the latter landing at Lok- machau.

Namtau, which is in Tai- chan Bay, is only half a mile from British waters in Deep Bay, on the western side of the Colony. The city is about fifteen miles west of Shun Chun and ten miles north-west of Castle Peak, Hongkong's famous bathing resort.
