Coolio Alloged To Have Attacked Woman

An offer-coolle .at Alexandra Buliding, Leung Kal, 38, was tried before the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor, at the Criminal Sessions; yesterday on a charge of throwing corrosive fluid on two young women, Wong Lai-fong and Cheung Yuk- chan.

Mr. Wyatt said that on November 4, Wong went to her aunt's house in Hollywood Road, where accused alra lived, and had with her a comerò, which and barrowed from friend. Whilst there, she had acca- sion to go to the kitchen. She left the camern on a cheat of drawers in her aunt's cubicle, but when she came from the kitchen it was missing. Enquiries were made, and eventually she suspected accused. She taxed him about it the following day, and he admitted having taken and pawned it for $3. He promised to redeem it or pay,her the money to get li back, Nothing furitier happened until about a week later, when Wong ngain went to see accused to get the money, Accused was not there but his wife paid Wong a small sum on account.

Wong did not see accused again until November 30, when she and a friend. Cheung Yuk-chan, went to Alexanden Bullding. They were told that he was not there, but just as they were leaving they met a smoll boy, Teol Hon-wah, whom they knew, and be told them neeused was In the rear of the building.

A case of particular interest. to landiords in the Colony was heard of the Central Magistracy before Mr. T. J. Houston yesterday when Un Wing-tao, of 153, Wing Lok Street, was summoned for knowingly having permitted his premises, No. 8C, Wellington Street, to be used as a heroin divan 'after he had received notices from the Court of the con- victions of two persons who had used the floor as a ́divan.

Inspector A. Sabey appeared for the police, and Mr. C. Y. Kwan re- presented the defendant, who WOJ not in Court.

Luk Cheuk, who described himself as the manager of the house, said that on December 13, 1038, he receiv- ed a notice from the Court informing Un Wing-tso that a certain person hud been convicted for keeping ui the time the tenant was a man named heroin divan on the premises. At Wong Tak-shing. Upon the notice, witness, acting on behalf of defendant, asked Wong Tak-shing to move. Wong left the following day, but not before witness refunded im $24, being part of the rent which had been pald în advance.
