St. John's Defeated In Important Encounter

St. Andrew's "A", went an important step further towards winning the "B" Division of the badminton league last night when they received and defeated the champions, St. John's Cathedral, by six games to three.

"A" DIVISION TIE

King's College were at home to Kwok and Beavan, and when Brown University "R" in the "A" Division and Gillis proceeded to defeat Wilson of the League last evening and won and Smith to cause the biggest pur- the tie by 7-2. prise of the evening, St. Andrew's were in a very powerful position with a lead of 4-1.

The issue was decided when in the next game Choy and Wong beat Kwok and Newman after a setted tame at 20-all. This was a see-saw encounter in which the pairs were 17-alt, than the homesters Jed 20-17, then were pulled back to 20-all, and which they fully won at 23-20.

After this St. John's staged a strong recovery. Kwok, playing at his best, helped Beavan to beat Gillls and Brown, and Wilson and Smith, after trailing Choy and Wong 3-11, caught up and overtook their op. ponents to win 21-16.
