From Wing Commander Steele-Perkins' answers, it appears that A.R.P. measures in this Colony, are well in handl, and that everything humanly possible will be done to protect the civilian population in the event of an emergency.

THE MEASURES for safeguarding the civil population against the effects of air attack have become a necessary part of the defensive organisation of any country which is open to air attack.

The need for them is not related to any belief that war is Imminent.

It arises from the fact that the risk of attack from the air, however remote it may be, is a risk that can- not be ignored, and because prepara- tions to minimise the consequences of attack from the air cannot be improvised on the spur of the moment but must be made if

If they are to be fective in time of peace, One of the most important measures is the formation of a body of Air Raid | Wardens whose duty would be to advise their neighbours and ree that they are given the necessary informa- tion as to the methods which can bej adopted to protect themselves from the effect of splinters from high ex- plosive bombs, incendiary bombs and the methods of making their rooms gas proof.
