Eddie Paynter Scores Century In
Each Innings In First Test Match
Third Englishman to do This Against The South Africans: Game Drawn
As generally expected, after the third play, the First Test match at Johannesburg ended
in a draw yesterday. The M.C.C., with a load of 32 runs after the first innings, declared their second knock at 291 for four wickets and the South Africans, facing a score of 323, had made 108 for the loss of one wicket when stumps were drawn.
Eddie Paynter, the Lancashire left-handor, who made 117 in the M.C.C. first innings, scored 100 in the second, thus becoming the third Englishman to score a century in each innings in Test matches against South Africa.

"I think he has realised that unless he gets right down to the task of gelling fit the future will be pretty Jark for us all."
Mr. George Dingley, the Scottish boxing promoter, said: "It's up to Benny and no one else. He can get himsel properly fit again, and if he 10 does so I can make £20,000 for him
