Girl Student Of 17 "Adopts" A Family

A 17-year-old art student, a girl living in Portland Place, London, whose name is not revealed, has "adopted" a needy couple in Durham and their five young children.

Her action was disclosed by the Rev. H. F. Pickering, Vicar of St. Nicholas Church, Durham City, recently, when he defended in the pulpit the effort that ho, with Lady Jane Legge, is making to secure help for poor familles in his parish.

"In Durham City alone there are 1,000 men on the dole, and there are incredible thousands in the county. There are many brave souls fighting help oddn to against tremendous themselves," he said.
