Giant New Dutch Planes Will "Be Sleepers"

Batavia.

Eleven of the new Douglas DC4 planes will be ordered by K.L.M. for the speeded-up schedule on the Amsterdam-Batavia service, planned for 1941.

These huge landplanes have ac- commodation for 40 passengers but Indles on the Holland-Netherlands route they will carry a maximum of 20, as there will be sleeping accom- modation.

Discussions are taking place be- tween K.L.M. and K.N.I.L.M. to ar- range an acceleration of the Batavia- Sydney service to give a through London-Sydney service of 3 days.

The new schedule provides for landings at Athens, Basra, Karachi, Rangoon and Singapore,

Planes will begin the journey from Amsterdam at 11 o'clock at night, immediately after the arrival of the connecting plane from London.
