Prizes won during the year were presented at the Central British School yesterday by the Hon. Sir Henry, Pollock, who addressed the pupils, pointing out the subservience of games to learning service for others.

The Headmaster, Mr. W. L. Handyalde, gave a report of the year's activities commending the scholastic attainments of the students and speaking on several phases of school life in which Improvement could be made. He deprecated press publicity of school athletes.

Finance Minister Speaks

Tokyo. Dec. 15.

In connection with the shipment of Yen 600,000,000 worth of gold specie abroad last year, Mr. Ikeda said that the gold shipments abroad, this year, show a remarkable de- crease as compared with last year, but that they still show a consider- ably high amount.-Domet.

ENCOURAGE TRADE

Utilisation of Foreign Exchange Fund

Tokyo, Dec. 15. With a view to encouraging foreign trade transactions the Bank of Japan is now contemplating relaxing the the existing terms for the utilisation of foreign exchange funds, establish- ed in July of this year, by trans- ferring Yen 300,000,000 from special

reserves.

Firstly, the redemption term will be extended from four to six months. Secondly, utilisation of the foreign fund hitherlo limited to exchange spot transactions, will be extended in the ease of the conclusion of im- port contracts or of contracts for the holding of foreign securities.

Thirdly, the interest rate on ad- vances from the foreign exchange funds will be reduced to 1.5 or to 3 cent from the present rate of per
