A YOUNG MAN'S IDEA

YOUNG man, wearied at the aight of perpetual kerchief for the head, designed this attrac- tive Breton bonnet.

It suggests itself for sports or motoring, in a 30in. square of any woollen fabric or tweed, and can be lined in silk or cotton from another 30in, square. Or you can make it in a spot or novelty fabric and line with woollen.

A Paisley silk square with a gold-yellow ground or an embroi- dered milk can be utilised similarly for evening wear-and looks cu chanting.

Or you can knit your own ver- kiong using a two-pły wool, No, 12 needles, and cast on 200 stitches, Knitting plain for 300 rown, allow ing 10 voies to the inch depth. Kuit the last 40 rows in a contrasting enlour if you like an unnaval border to your bonnet. In a tartan plaíd angora tonol, introducing Corn yellow, red, black, and little green. the square ia luxuriantly warm and raft.

Fashion the bojmel as sketched -it is quite simple, and can be nu- folded after wearing each time, or stitched round the roll which will Arcure the shape.

If you prefer a genuine bowtie beneath the chin, stitch velvet rib- bons 12in, long to each end of the roll about the throat.

Fish-Fruit Dishes

Cod Hiawathan

Four cod steaks, pint crushed pineapple, 1 tablespoonful of lemon Juice, salt and pepper.

Sole Randolf

Eight pieces of sole (Alleted), 2 oz dried apricots, tb green grapes, gill of milk, 4 pint white sauce, salt and pepper.

Allow the apricots to soak in water for an hour, Drain and cut in small pieces. Stone the grapes and mix with the apricots. Season the fish and place a dessertspoonful of fruit mixture on cach piece of sole. Roll up and arrange in a shallow buttered casserole. Add the milk and bake in

the oven until the sole is cooked. When it is rendy, drain off the milk enrefully, add the sauce, and reheat.

Decorate with 1 few grapes and
