PROPER RACING WEATHER NOW BEING EXPERIENCED

MOST ANIMALS GETTING INTO THEIR STRIDE

HONGKONG ST. LEGER IS MAIN EVENT TO-MORROW

(By "Captain Foster")

We are now having proper weather for racing! This was the view expressed at Happy Valley the other morning by a few prominent owners who claimed that the prospects of their ponies were much brighter than they were at the resumption of the season. Fat, like charity, covers a multitude of faults and the eagerness of trainers to get an animal fit too quickly has been the downfall of many a class pony. Some owners, of course, prefer to go slow until the cool weather sets in and we may now look for ward to seeing a fow outsiders coming in to-morrow.

The stage is set for to-morrow's tong distance elante, the Hongkong St. Leger confined to Chinn ponies,. and there are in addition seven at tractivo handicap events on the card. First saddling will be rung at the umini time. 130 p.m. sharp.

Mr. Moller will be present at the races to-morrow to see his pony run in the Hongkong St. Leger. His son, it is under- stood, will take out Silkylight.

Since the inception of this event, only three ponies so far have won both the Derby and the St. Leger. Mr. Moller is particularly anxious Silkylight become the fourth pony to do so.

ITALIAN SOLDIERS AND SEAFORTHS IN UGLY INCIDENTS

Free Fight In Course Of Soccer Match

Shanghai, Nov. 14. Ugly incidents followed by a free fight, in which members of tho Savoia Grenadiers, The Seaforth Highlanders and members of the general public were injured, marred two of yesterday's foot- ball games at the Rececourse. The games concerned in the incidents were those between the Scaforths and the Savoia in a Reserve Division encounter and the S.F.X. and Savoia, First Divi- sion encounter and the S.F.X. and Savoia, First Division. As a result of the brawl Mr. A. G. Carnell, refereeing the Reserve Divi- sion game, and Lance-Corporal Smellie of the Seaforths received treatment for multiple wounds, the soldier having sustained a stab injury in the back.
