PROPER RACING WEATHER NOW BEING EXPERIENCED
MOST ANIMALS GETTING INTO THEIR STRIDE
HONGKONG ST. LEGER IS MAIN EVENT TO-MORROW
(By "Captain Foster")
We are now having proper weather for racing! This was the view expressed at Happy Valley the other morning by a few prominent owners who claimed that the prospects of their ponies were much brighter than they were at the resumption of the Monson. Fat, like charity, covers a multitude of faults, and the! cagomess of trainers to get an animal fit too quickly has been the downfall of many a class pony. Some owners, of course; prefer to go slow until the cool weather sets in and we may now look for- ward to seeing a few outsiders coming in to-morrow.
The stage is met for to-morrow's
our distance classic, the Hongkong SILKYLIGHT

Mr. Moller will be present at the races to-morrow to see his pony run in the Hongkong St. Leger. His son, it is under- stood, will take out Silkylight.
Since the inception of this event, only three ponics so far have won both the Derby and the St. Leger. Mr. Moller is particularly anxious Silkylight become the fourth pony to do so.

Shanghai, Nov. 14. Ugly incidents followed by a free fight, in which members, of the Savain Grenadiers, The Seaforth Highlanders and members of the general public were injured, marred two of yesterday's foot- ball games at the Rececourse. Shortly afterwards, as this player was taking a "throw-in," he was cautioned again by the referce, and instead of disposing of the bail, be rushed at Mr. Cornell who, in de- fending himself, imocked the Italian player fo the ground.
