INDIFFERENCE, SLACKNESS BY CIVILIAN CLUBS

PROBLEMS CONFRONTING LOCAL ASSOCIATION

Slackness and indifference-two of the greatest evils in local hockey-are most evident in the mid-week games. Late starts, depleted teams and players of the same side wearing jerseys of various hues are a few of the complaints I have heard recently.

Several umpires und Army re- presentatives have complained, but I am afraid they are just voices crying in the wilderness; club secretaries do nothing.

Midweek games are scheduled to but inst commence at 5.15 pan., teams fail to put in appearance and as it gets until 5.25 or 5,30, dark very early nowadays only 20 or 23 minutes playing time is avail- able.

Frankly, I think it is time some- thing was done about it.

Apart from late starts and lack of uniformity in club colours, there is also the vexed question of badly- of the Freunds. Some propared

grounds used in important matches were in a terrible state, and it seems hardly far to ask teams to play off tournament matches on them.

REQUIRE ATTENTION Very often, of course, one wonders whellier too much was not being made of points which, on reflection, domestic club proved to be mere

affairs. But-nevertheless there are acveral matters which require the attention of those in office.

These are some of the matters the Hongkong Hockey Association hope to look into this season. A persis- tent cumpalgn will bring the de- sired results.

All clubs should co-operate by (1) turning up for matches in time; (3) wear the same colours in one match and (3) If you have a ground, see that it is in a fit condition for matches to be played.

OFFICIAL RULING ON CLAUSE 10: POINTS FULLY EXPLAINED
