About 1,080 non-commissioned officers, the War Office announce, were promoted on October 1 to form the first batch of selections for a new class of troop.sergeant-majors, section sergeant-majors, and platoon sergeant-majors, to be known as Warrant Ofllcers Class III.

It has also been decided to form a new see- tion of the Army Reserve, to be called Section E, Promotion to provide a source of warrant officers and non- commissioned officers "to fill responsible positions prospects mobilisation, which would otherwise have to be filled from serving personnel."

Section E will be open only to pensioner warrant and non-commissioned officers aged fifty and under. Each man will be allotted a specific mobilisation_post.
