The gang is a six-handed one) -all highly specialised. Its chief is between fifty and sixty years old, grey-haired, benevo- lent-looking, whose clothes give him the appearance of a respect- able business man.

He is known as "the guy'nor" to his associates, lives in a large detached house in а London

suburb.

It is "the guy'nor" who decides where and when a safe is to be attacked, after he has completed his survey of the office or shop.
