KEATES SETS UP RECORDS

Weck-End Enthusiasm In Cycling

Amazing performances were put up by the Hongkong Cycling Club's hampion, H.A.G. Keates, during the past week's unpaced road time trials, naw Colony Agures being recorded for distances from 10 to 25 miles, whilst even the Shanghal Wheelers' tipuren, standing to the credit of the same riter since 1933, were lowered over the aume diluices.

Practically ident weather conditions prevailed on October 12, when Kentes returned 13 mins. 30 secs, for 3 miles to average 22.223 m.p.h., representing the third fustent "5" put up in the Colony, ant only 40 seca, outside the record.

Kentes used his 85" gear as usual nd started by covering the first mille at 21.0 m.p.h.; his faster finishing average was mainly due to a terrifle burst of speed over the last infle, which was covered in 2.19. (25.890 m.p.h.). This is ie fastest mulle
