RESPONSIBLE QUARTERS BELIEVE THAT THE SUDETEN RE- JECTION OF THE CZECH CONCESSIONS HAS GERMANY'S FULL BACK- ING, INDICATING THAT HERR HITLER IS PREPARED TO FORCE AN IM- MEDIATE SHOW-DOWN, BY ARMS IF NECESSARY.

GRAVE APPREHENSION IS FELT THAT UNLESS LORD RUNCIMAN PERSUADES THE NAŽIS TO REVERSE THEIR DECISION AN EXPLOSION LEADING_TO_A GENERAL WAR IN EUROPE IS IMMINENT.

It is understood that in the event of the Sudeten rejection of the Czech proposals being final, Sir Nevile Henderson, the British Ambassador in Berlin, is fully prepared and authorised to warn Herr Hitler of Britain's readiness to fight to a finish.

The Cabinet's instructions to Sir Nevile are described to United Press as the "sharpest language Great Britain has employed to -Germany since 1914."

The Ambassador returns to Berlin on Wednesday and will then await further instructions from London as to whether he should deliver the warning.

Informed circles state that the attitude of Cabinet Ministers regarding the European crisis is "absolutely firm" and Britain is determined to carry out her present line of policy and make even stronger representations to Herr Hitler if necessary.

The disclosure in the official communique issued at No. 10 Downing Street that Ministers "approved of the action already taken" is taken as confirmation that Britain has already made known to Germany in unmis- takeable fashion the dangers attendant upon any violation of the territorial integrity of Czecho-Slovakia.

The additional comment that, Ministers have approved of the future course adopted for the indicates that British pressure will not be slackened.
