Defence Asks Jury For Acquittal

When the Court adjourned for luncheon to-day, both Counsel for the prosecution and defence had concluded their addresses to the Jury in the Dorsetshire Murder trial.

At 2.30 p.m., when the Court re-assembled, the Acting Chief Justice, Mr. Justice Lindsell, commenced his summing up.

The Jury was expected to retire at 3.30 p.m. No evidence was called for the defence when the Court re-assembled at 10 o'clock this morning and, as is customary under such circumstances, the Crown Counsel, Mr. J. Whyatt, opened his address to the Jury. Mr. Whyatt concluded at 10.50 a.m., and was followed by Counsel for the Defence, Mr. Leo D'Almada, who spoke for an hour and 35 minutes.

In the case, which has lasted! For four days. Seaman Edwin! Moreland Dwyer. 19-year-old j former student at Cheltenham College, was charged with the murder aboard H.M.S. Dorset- shire on the high seas of Lead-¦ ing Seaman Robert Dickinson.

Mr. J. Whyatt, Crown Coun sol, conducted the prosecution. Mr. Leo D'Almuda. Jr.. instruct- ed by Mr. G. S Hugh-Jones, apearing for Dwyer. Forty-two- witnesses were called by the Crown.
