He was Chief Officer J. C. S. Smith, of the TroveSSA. When his ship foundered he steered the No. 3 lifeboat of the Treversa 2,400 miles in 25 days-sterred by sun and stars and brought his open bout to land at Mauritius after one of the most araazing voyages in the history of the sea.
Here is the full story of Chief Officer Smith's terrific venture.
