EMPIRE BILLIARDS TOURNEY
Indian Players To Take Part
Brisbane, May 5. While the countries certain to be represented in the Empire amateur billiards championship in Melbourne in June remain at Australla, Eng- land, India and South Africa, latest advice from New Zealand is that the controlling body in this Dominion will have one of two representa- tives.
Indian billardists will participate In the Empire title event for the first
tine 01 record. Indio, South
Africa, and Australia will inve two representatives, and T. Cleary, run- ner-up last year in the Australian ovent, will be Australia's second string.
Kingsley Kennerley, the Engilsh champion and sole representative from the Home Country, is due in Melbourne soon and 50 orc the South African pair, A. M. Burke and Allan Prior.
The coming Empire championship series will be one of the most re- presentative for many years. The ability of Marshall, Kennerley, and the South Africans is well known, but little or nothing is known of the visiting Indian pair.
In the Australian championship in Melbourne Inst September, Bob Marshall easily retained his title dr- feating T. Cleary (Vic.) by 2,000 to 1,014. During this Ann Marshall compiled breaks of 254, 250, 102, 160, 150, 125 (unfinished), and 102. The Empire title is being held on this occasion.
