HERE to a picture in striking contrast to the high-speca

studies appearing on this page recently. The last of these was water-polo players taken at a speed of a two-thousandth part of a second.

Taking this vivid impression of am azbestos-claă man working at high speed in a shower of flying sparke was, photo- graphically speaking, a slow process. A fteenth part of a second was the exposure given, and the only light was that from the sparka.

The workman was piercing a cast-iron block 10 inches thick with an oxyacetylene lance, It took him five seconds.
