RUGBY LAWS FAIL TO WIPE OUT UNFAIR PLAY

By LEO MUNRO

London, Mar. 20,

Rugby Union players are loyal citizens. But they break their own laws. The Rugby Union issued warnings about unfair play early this season, and ended, more or lean, with an "explanation" of the scrummago taw.

We must assume that a season's working of the altered laws has not greally improved what was at fault.

OFFSIDE DODGE

Ollerwise there would be no need certainly hun gel-on-with-the-game for the Rugby Union to remind plhy-value, ers at the end of March that the ball is not being put in the ordered by law, and that front-row scrummagers are still making legal

Good Prospects For The Lawn Bowls Season

(By "Abe")

In my article yesterday, I dealt with the Club de Recreio, Craigengower CC, Kowloon Bowling Green Club and the Indian R.C. Now I intend to discuss the prospects of the four remain- ing teams in the First Division of the Lawn Bowls League.

First of all, the Civil Service C.C. This team may hot win the cham- pionship, but it will give a good account of itself. In J. Hollidge, S. Randle and J. W. Deakin, they have. three skips who should hold their

Some changes have been made from the side which did duty last season, but I fail to see any per ceptible weakening of the combina- tion as a whole. The three rinks

very balanced.

Arthur Grimmitt, that grand old bowler, will play No. 3 to Hollidge, G. H. Sherriff to Randle, and J. F. McGowan, their popular convener, to Deakin.

Sherriff's decision to throw in his lot with the Civil Servants should help considerably this season.

KOWLOON C.C.

As I said yesterday, a team which looks good on paper may not do so well in practico; in the same way, a team which does not seem strong may surpass all expectations when it comes to match play. The Kow- this loon C.C. may help to prove theory during the present League campaign. On paper, I cannot say they appear as formidable as the

Club de Recreio, the Craigengower or the Kowloon B.G.C. for instance, or even as good as some of the other First Division teams; but yet it is
