EGYPT'S TARIFFS DOUBLED

New Duties Affect

Indian Exports

Cairo, Apr. 11. Increased customs tariffs on cotton plece goods and yarns, ranging up to, 100 per cent., are being enforced im- mediately in Egypt.

Dutles have been doubled on cotton yarns, heavy grays and whites, heavy printed dyed goods and enbots,

A 100 per cent, increase in duly on enbota will practically prohibi their import from India,

All goods under 50 grammes per square metre will remain unchanged, but duties on ribbons and stockings are heavily increased, Increases on the remainder of cotton plece goods range from 50 to 70 per cent.

It is pointed out that the expression, "100 per cent," means doubling the existing duty, and not 100 per cent.
