yesterday's markets:
of cantile Bank Building. Queen's Road (Central), Hong Kong, on Wednesday, the 13th April, 1938, at 12.15 p.m., when the subjoined Resolution will be proposed as an Ordinary Resolution:
Stocks: The market is likely to have a further technical correction. which should provide a clue as to the possibility of the current bear market nearing an end. The Times" business index for the week was 78.1, as against 80.1 last week and 105.0 for the corresponding week of last year.
Cotton: Heavy texille sales are reported at an advance in prices. Congressional opposition to the pro- posed Government spending policy. has probably caused some liquidation by recent buyers.
Wheat: Less is being heard of frost damage. Clearing weather and a Government estimate of a crop of 735,000.000 bushels are bearish fac- tors. The market awaits the needed resumption of United Kingdom buy- ing. There has been a visible de- in suppiles of 1,891,000
crease bushels.
Corn: Cash and export buying is contributing to the strength of the market. There has been a *[sible increase in supplies of 2,791,000 bushels.
II
Rubber: The market is apparent- Jy at present experiencing technical reaction and news is other- wise unchanged,
"That the Capital of tho Company be increased to Five Million Dollars by the creation of Two Million New Shares of the nominal value of $2 each and that such Now Shares o issued at auch time or times and on such terms and condi- tions as the Directors shall in their absoluto discretion ace fit".

£800 Nugget On Goldfield
For seven lean years, two brothers, Bert and Walter Cook-I son have "fossicked" for gold in the Ballarat district of Austra- lia, making on an average less than the Australian basic wage for a working man,
Now, anys Austral News, they have just unearthed a 99 oz. nugget. Their conversation at the moment of discovery Was characteristicnlly Australian:
Bert: That's a good lump. Walter: Yos.
And they tossed
to the ground the and went on working. It is largest nugget found in the Im- mediate district since the days, of the "roaring fifties".
Later, the brothers sold the gold to the royal mint for £600. Said Bert: "No, there'll be no celebra- tion. I'll pay off a house I'm buy- ing and Walter'll build one". Long Bilence.
And that was that.
