THE old-fashiond remedy for getting rid of grease spots by using a hot iron over brown paper is a great help occasion- ally, but there are times when something else is needed. Sup- pose, for instance, you get grease on your smart brown leather sports shoes-not much help to be hoped for from a hot iron then, is difficult to get grease out of leather, but the very best thing to try is French chalk.

Rub it energetically into the: spot, then leave the part for twenty-four hours, well coated
