Woman Killer on Hunger Strike
New York. Coldly defant, Mrs. Julia Barker, who is alleged to have shot dead her real estate business associate, Mrs. Edith Cummings, has gone on hun- ger strike. She steadfastly refuses to nld the police, and insists that she killed her parince in self-defence.
Taken to the scene of the crime. Mrs. Barker sat in the police car and would not help to reconstruct the tragedy. She was quite oblivious to the stares of 2,000 people, and fold the detectives:
"I don't remember the details. It's your job to solve crimes, not mine." When she returned to gaol she talked to two grown-up sons of Mrs. Cummings. One of them sald after- wards: "I can't understand it. She's so cold and remorseless; she never even expressed sorrow."
