German Troops Already Reported

To Have Crossed Frontier

Vienna, Mar. 11.

An unconfirmed report states that German troops have already marched into Salzburg and other Austrian frontier towns.

The Austrian Chancellor, Dr. Kurt von Schuschnigg, has announced his resignation and the plebiscite, which was to have tested the popularity of the Government and the will of the Austrian people for its continuance in office, has been postponed under pressure.

Dr. von Schuschnigg's resignation was announced immediately afterwards. The Chancellor confirmed he was forced to resign because Herr Hitler threatened the armed invasion of Austria.

He added that Herr Miklas had ordered him to yield to force.

Germany, he said, had demanded the replacement of the Cabinet by one of Herr Hitler's choice.

HITLER STRIKES AGAIN

Germany's leader has delivered an ultimatum to Austrin, and it appears that with President Herr Wilhelm Miklas' refusal to accede to Berlin's demands, the German army is marching in- to Austria. Reports are somewhat contradictory. Some Bay that the Nazis have seized power in Vienna, others that the old Government still stands. But it is certain that German troops are on the move.
