MACAO FOOTBALLERS DISPLAY SAME WEAKNESSES
UNABLE TO PROFIT
FROM PREVIOUS
EXPERIENCE
BEATEN 3-0. YESTERDAY
BY EASTERN TEAM
(By "Abe")
The weakness of the Macao Artillery football team in front of goal was again emphasised yesterday when the visitors were beaten by Eastern by three goals to nil in their second match in the Colony, played at Caroline Hill. Admitted, they probably would have lost in any case, but if their forwards had seized all their opportunities, the margin of victory for Eastern certainly would not have been so wide.
As in their encounter with South China "B" the day before, the Macno players were quite impres sive in midfield and in defence. Once they had got to within shoot- ing distance, something invariably went wrong. They failed to profit by their experience from the first match. and persisted in crowding the other near the Easters goal. Lack of hall control also played a great part in their
their defeat.
were several men in the There team deserving of special mention. The two back, A. Cordova and A. Lobato, were better than their op posite numbers: both worked ex-
Jatter ceptionally hard, and the featured a play with clever drib- bling upeid- necessary manoeu- VIC in this case in view of the Chilure of the forwards to get go- ing. A. Alrosu, the centre-haff, was also prominent, but was not so good in his constructive work,

on Tuesday.
BAD LUCK
Towards the end, the Portuguese forwards did manage to put in few good shots, all of which were saved by Sammy Trang except one from the centre-forward, A. Santos, who und Be mortification of seeing it hit the post. I was extremely had luck as it was a One shot and the goal-keeper was beaten.
Eastern won because they played neater football, and were able to with off their movements round
shooting. In Lee Tack-kee. Hood they had a go-ahead centre-forward and though he scored two goals, his play
was marred by questionable tuelles. It was through liim that A. Silverio, the visiting left-half, sus- lained Injurits which caused his re-
trement from the game shortly af- ter the commencement of the second half.
The first two goals were scored by Lee Tack-kee, and the third by -Soong-Ling-sing-The-Just-was-- good drive from outside the penalty
area.

NEWS has reached me from a re- liable source that G. Lammert, the Macao caplain, was personally up- proached with regard to the forth- coming Interport with Macho, He definitely stated that Macao was an- xious to meet Hongkong any time in March. Why he has not answered Mr. Palmer's letter with reference to the date suggested is still a mystery; the letter might have gone astray,
