UNLOADING OF SILVER UNLIKELY

First Such Move By China Would Shatter Market

London, Dec. B,

is

A report published in one of this morning's popers that Chinese silver is being refined in London on behalf of the United States Treasury categorically denied by the reiners, | who informed Reuter that the refin- Ing is being done on behalf of the Chinese Government,

Bullion dealers have no fear that the silver refined in London will be thrown' on to the Landon market as the Chinese Government is bound by the silver agreement with the United States to offer all available liver first to the United States, who is continuing to buy.

There is no possibility of Chinese silver being unloaded in London even in the event of the United States stopping purchase as the first ounce of Chinese silver appearing on the -market would cause a rout,

Concerning the reuson prompting the Chinese Government to prefer to have the liver refined in London, It Es conjectured that this course has been adopted in order to facilitate advances to the Chinese Government. by British banks, and also that it is casier and cheaper to store bars than coin and broken silver.-Reuter.
