Innocents With Disgrace Of The Guilty'
1937.
-Bishop Of Durham
DR. HENSLEY HENSON, the Bishop of Durham, speaking at Durham Diocesan Conference, strongly denounced the view that in cases of remarriage of divorced people the Church should treat the innocent like the guilty.
· Dealing with the Matrimonial Cautres "Act, 'he' said that mány bishops had stated that in no circum- stances might divorced persons be rightly permitted to marry in parish churches.
He considered that was unsound in! principle and polley, and it was clear- ly his duty frankly to dissociate him- self from it.
He could not approve a procedure which made no difference between the guilty and the Innocent, but sub- Jected all divorced persons without distinction to the same disablilly and disgrace.

OF A HORSE SAID to have driven his thorough
bred hunter into a wayside inn, Norman Liewelin, aged 30, a Fish guard farmer, was fined £1 at Mathry for being drunk while in charge of the animal.
P. C. John Bowen said the horse fell in the inn, damaging furniture and frightening the landlady.
Asked by the clerk if the animal drank beer, Constable Bowen stated that Licwellin said he could teach his horse to do anything-even to smoke cigarettes.
