Club de Recreio "A" players again demonstrated their superiority in the Mixed Doubles Badminton League last night when, playing well within themselves, they defeat Taikoo by eight games to one. Due to the one-sidedness of the encounter, there was little good badminton and the game, on the whole, was a disappointment,

The only pair to drop a game were L. A. Carvalho and Miss M. Ribeiro, who were beaten by 21-10 by G. A. Smith and Misa R. Summers in the last round. WHA clue respect to Smith and Miss Summers, both of whom admittedly were showing gradual improvement as the match progressed, the Portuguese par lost because both of them had become enreless as the result of the earlier successes of the team.

I was rather disappointed with the Taikoo players lusi night. When I saw them against the University in their opening match, they were badly beaten; but then they revealed better things which promise Of have 110t been futiled. Truc enough, they have

lost the ser- vices of C. Bovnird, probably their best man player, but they now have C. A. Smith who, even if he is not quite as good as Boveird, is not far behind. Furthermore, Misa Fraser was not in the side at the time and she is back now.

What struck те most farcibly whilst watching the match was the fact that the Taikoo ladies did not secem to be trying enough. Some- times they would deal faithfully with a bad shot from their opponents, but on the whole they were far too lethargie-a failing which is fatal at badminton. Even when their part- ners were palpably out of positions, Aley made little or no attempt to cover up and this gave the Reerels players a decided advantage.

CREATEST OFFENDERS

The greatest offenders in this re- gard were Miss Summers and Miss Fraser, whose partners, Smith and Keown respectively, thus bad a greater burden on their shoulders. Miss Cunningham was the only onc of the three who attempted to give her partner backing, but unfortunate- ly S. Newnan was playing u

poor game and the combination, therefore, was not as formidable as it might liave been.

The important tie between the Club de Recreio "A" and the Chinese, Y.M.C.A., scho- duled to be played on Monday, has been postponed to Satur- day, December 11, at 6.30 p.m. The game will be played at the Club de Recreio,
