KOTEWALL CUP

Army Team Chosen For Sunday's Match

The following have been selected to represent the Army in the Kote- wall Cup match against South Chin on Sunday:

Goal: Fun, Rowlands (R.W.F.). Backs: Pte. Webster (Seaforths), Pte. Sheehan (M'sex),

Halves: Fus. Evans (R.WIF.), Pte. Brigh! (M'sex), Pie. McCusker (Sen- forths).

Forwards: Pie. Pearson' (M*aux), Col Watson (M'sex), Pte. Izzard (M'sex), Pte. McGulstan (Seaforthe) and Pte. Thompson (Seaforths).

Reserves: Cpl. Tudor (N.F.), Fua Vale (R.W.F.), L/Sgt. Calvert (A.) and L/Sgt. Duffield (R.A.O.C.).

As a guide to the form of leading Contenders for inclusion the team, the Army selectors arranged a trial match at Sookunpoo yesterday, Reds losing to Stripes by the odd gool In Ave.

Owing to service dulles, several player selected were forced to de- eline, with the result that reserves had to be called upon nt the last moment and a consequent wholesale re-shuflling was found necessary. With several players filling positions unaccustomed' them, plus the fact that they were playing together for the first time, a considerable amount of misunderstanding resulted and play never reached great heights. Indeed, on the showing, Army will have to improve vastly if they are to offer any serious opposition on Sunday.

Several, however, did manage to render good accounts, Amongst them were Rowlands, Evans, Pearson and McGuigan for the teda, with Bright sound in the initial half. In the Stripes, the best displays were furnished by Watson, Sheehan, M-- Cusker, Saw and Izzard, with Ban- feld doing well between the slick1, The more virile first-half combina- tion, Stripes led by three goals when the Interval was reached. Early in the me Dunnachle kicked. good goal from Adams's centre, the second and third goals being obtained Izzard, playing in the unusual posi- tion of outside-left

After the interval, Vale moved over to the Neds they had played a man short throughout the first period-his place in the Stripes being taken over by a late-comer. This strengthened
