When the 1037 Esumales were

framed, it was expected that most of the mall carried by the Imperial Airways service would be paid for in accordance with the "all up" Scheme from Head 0, Sub-head 2, Air Mail Payment. Due to the delay in the inauguration of the scheme, Air Mail costs hitherto have had to be paid from this Sub-head on the basis of weight of mail carried, and it is not expected that the provision under Sub-head 2 will be toughed this year. The Pan-American service did not start until Aprli 1937 and is therefore not provided for in the Estimates.

The severe typhoon of September 2, 1037, caused damage to Govern- ment Dulldings, Roads, Water Works, Port Works, etc., in the New Ter- ritories to the extent of $130,000.

A sum of $100,000 in addition to the amount provided in the Es- timates is required this year to meet the cost of repairs to the following services: Buildings $21,000; Roads $60,000; Drainage $200; Water Works $1,000; Electrical Work $15,000; Port Worku $2,300; General Works $500.

The severe typhoon of September 2. 1937, caused "Gurgelo Govern- ment Buildings, Roads, Water. Works and Drainage systems, etc., in the New Kowloon District to the extent of $70,000.
