'Many Doctors Do Operations They Know Nothing Of'

-SIR BRUCE BRUCE-PORTER

SIR BRUCE BRUCE-PORTER, Mayfair physician, declared recently in a speech to the New Health Club in London, that--

Patients in a serious condition are turned away from hospitals,

Patients are released from hospital before they are fit,

Family doctors often perform operations for which they are not trained.

And he spoke of the "vested interest in disease."

"The solution is for the State to take over: it is inevitable," he said.

Alled

He was talking to doctors. "Hospitals," he said, "are with the results of preventable disease. Many people dangerously fl have to be turned away.

"Once you have got a man into a bed, some treatment is given, then he's turned oui, long before he's fit to go. There's such pres- sure from the walling list."

Sir Bruce Bruce-Porter said he could not be too emphatic about the need to revise the whole system.

"It's wrong." he said, "and I per- sonally am extremely worried."
