games, and there were intervals when some of the team pulled out darling shots, J. J.
probably Remedios touched better form then anybody. else, especially praiseworthy being his clever angled return of the short service, and his cunning cross-court drop shots, which usually allowed a hair's breadth for margin of error.
M. A. Oliveira was a little more subdued than usual, but cracked over some effective smushes after the first game. It may have been foney, but I thought I detected a desire in his part to try the shorter game more than is his wont. Not a bad idea either, for he still requires a bit more finesse before he can put himself into
the front rank.
THE HONGKONG
Possibly the Portugese would have) been more Impressive if the op- position had been a trifle stronger, For the most part the entire team played adequate badminton, without jroducing anything much in the way of fireworks.
L. A. Silva was as guileful as ever, L. A. Carvalho efficiency personified and Alves 'and Barros stolid unrelenting.
