Seeking to improve housing con- ditions by providing cottages with modern sanl- tation, kitchens and bathrooms, Penzance Council has scheduled some of Newlyn's oldest housea for demolition. Bound to their clean lile coltages by sentimental associations of more than a cen- tury, the Cornish fisherfolk are loath to leave for inore up-to-date accommodation, and efforts are. being made to preserve the homes.
