Chief P. O. Writer Admits Offence Long Record Of Fine Service

Lending Writer Elliott decided to pursue the matter and, having de tached the three sheets and locked them up in his own drawer, replaced the remittance book in the drawer in which he had found it. On Octo- ber 8 Elliott Interviewed Wilson and then reported the circumstances to Pay-Lt. Cmdr. Britton.

Later,-Pay-Lt. Cmdr. Britton ordered a search to be carried out in the Pay office for the missing remittance book. In this search, the accused, Elliott and Jeffery took part. On the accused professing himself unable to produce the book, Pay-Lt-Cmdr. Britton went to the Pay Office and ordered all locked drawers to be opened. The accused unlocked his drawer. The book was not there.

On October 13, accused approached Lieut. W. E. Davey, (H.M.B. Tamar) and asked him for loan of $100 representing that unless he could few produce that. Bum within a minutes, disciplinary action would be taken against him. Licut, Davey repiled that he would give his de- cision in ten minutes time,
