BIG REPUTATION

Mrs. Miller is an unusual gure in tennis. She lives on a lonely farm with her husband, and the only ten-

is practice she gets is by acting honorary conch to some convent girls. Yet she has a reputation of being able to beat any woman or man player in South Africa. Once yearly the leaves the farm and wipes the opposition off the court, to reiuln het native champlonship,

Touring pinyers--and these include Peggy Scriven, Freda Jumes, Mary Heeley, Mra. Whillingstall, and Belly Nuthall-all get beaten by her, which helps to build up the notion that Mr. Miller is about the best wornan tennis player in the game.

It is said that for years her game has had everything except the opper- tunity, and now the is to get it. We shall await her visit with interest, but I am told that we shall not. recognise in her the buxom young girl we stew at Wimbledon some She has changed a good years ago. deal, being slimmer and prettier,

NAVY VETERANS" GAME

Four Marx Brothers Feature In Farcical Football

Ireland had a spell of attacking and in one of their onslaughts, Mad- den, outside left, nearly scored when he headed the ball which just went over the bar, These attacks were too infrequent, for the Irish defence was continually being harassed by the swift English forwards and was consequently unable to render adequate assistance to the Irials for-

wards.

keeper,

The superiorly of the English ball backs was the deciding factor. The Irishmen, though individually clever, lucked cohesion-Reuter.
