Appliances from the Tsimshatsul Mongkok Fire Station were rushed to the blaze, but by the time they arrived on the scene, the flames had spread to the first and second noors of the two adjoining houses,noon, Kowloon Wharf. 30201. Nos. 370 and 378 Shanghai Street.

The fire-fighters began their tank at once and tons of water were poured on the flames, but No. 374 was com- pletely gutted, the first and second floors collapsing.

The other two houses were occu- pied by the Tai Yee Teahouse, owned and these by Mr. Lai King-ching. premises were considerably damaged by the flames and water. The blaze was extinguished shortly after 6 a.m. The extent of the damage has not yet been ascertained, or whether the premises were covered by insurance.
