A communique issued from Salamanca claims the capture of Bermeo and Mindaca, adding that 3,000 arriving, in ali probability, the Basques are retreating from the two captured towns, falling back on Bilbao.
Insurgent storming parties have already rushed beyond Bermco and taken the 2,000-foot heights on Mont Soliuve, which dominate the road to Manguia.
A despatch from St. Jean de Luz, Į French border town, says the capture of Bermeo by the Insurgents makes the question of a port of evacuation! for the Basque refugees more difficult than ever. At the moment efforts are being made to evacuate women," children and aged people from Bilbao, but the port is blockaded and being ralded constantly by aircraft, and the work is dangerous to refugees und rescuers alike.-Reuter,
