Great Britain, fearing that in the "next war" her vul- nerable little island will be subjected to serial bombard- ments vastly more terrible than those of the world war, is working overtime to catch up and keep pace with the continental powers in the air armaments race.

Britain awoke to that situation with a rude shock. The sud- den, disconcerting revelation just two years ago that Germany hnd stealthily achieved air parity startled her into furious netion.

So deep is the military secrecy of the dictatorial nationa that the British intelligence service was badly deceived, and only four months before the discovery, Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin' was led into informing the House of Commons that Britain was 50 per cent. superior to Germany in air strength.
