Lisbon, Apr. 10. ROOM in the palatial Hotel Aviz, near Lis- bon, has been set aside as -headquarters of Captain Malcolm MacDonald, chief of the British observers in Portugal.
When the rest of the 130 Britons chosen to pulice the Portuguese frontler arrive they will be able to go to their stations within a few dinys.
THEY WONDER.
Lisbon people are wondering how on earth 130 men are going to watch nearly 000 miles of frontier to pre- vent the passage of arms and volun- teers into Spain.

"knew wasn't going to be a plente when I took on the job-and a quick look round has told me I 'was right. It will be at least a fortnight before we can get to work properly."
Meanwhile MacDonald and his clerical staff have administrative problems to tackle. Well-to-do Por- tuguese people are calling hourly aftering their hospitality, but so far no "dales" have been, made, "Work in the Arst, parties afterwards,
it's Jolly "skipper's" motto. "But decent of them to ask us," he told
