S.-C. &.F, Dow Jones Summary of yesterday's markets:-The main list to four heaviest in points. Selling was steels, coppers, olla and rubbers. necelerated moderately. Rails were down fractions of more than a point. Sleeis weakened and were disconeerling. Rayons, papers and fertilisera were strong early in the day, but later, relinquished part of their gains. Late shert-covering lifted some leaders from, their low levels. The majority of shares, how ever, crossed at below Monday's finals. Bonds were lower, with Gov- ernment issues down. Curb stocks were irregularly lower.

S. C. & F. Wall Street Journal morning comment:-Some of the smaller automabile mukers are ex- peeled to report unusually good first- quarter earnings. The Street is not entirely pleased with the action of the market, Brokers believe that it will take some days of firmer bonds to bring to light dormant new issues. Olls are acting better than any other group. Private cables indicate that London is more bullish. Fertiliser figures suggest the best carnings for come years. There is increased bullshress in rayon stocks.

S. C. & F. New York office reports: Stocks: Various issues were again in supply as traders continue their stand-off attitude towards the market, The indications are that the price trend will continue downward until better news is to be had. Petroleum Issues like Texas, Phillips and Skelly, rubber stocks like Good Year and U. S. Rubber and store stocks such ar Sears, Roebuck; Montgomery, Ward and H. L. Green appear to be most attractive at present. The feduction by one cent in the price of domestic copper to 10 cents may bring selling into coppers, but we would recommend the holding of high-grade issues such as Kennecott and Anaconda, The Bell Telephone gain for System shows a station March of 105,000, as against 78,300 for March of last year: Business7 fatures for the week amounted to the week 185, Bank deposits for totalled around $15,120,000,000.

Cotton: Sentiment is reactionary, new-crop but non-aggressive. The outlook is an increasing factor, with ideas crystallizing at around a 12% acreage increase. The Trade is steady buyer of nears, but is inclined to scale down prices. The chances for a balanced budget as a possible inflation remedy appear to be slim and Inflation will probably continue as a recurring influence at times.

Wheat; The present natural technical reaction was not unexpect ed.--It is possible that thera.will be. a further decline, but good support in anticipated. European takings continue in all growths and the world unchanged. statistical position is There has been a visible decrease in Canadian supplica of -1,415,000 bushels.
